Read full description of the books:

Fell is a masterful and experimental brainchild from the author Warren Ellis and the artist Ben Templesmith that was first published in 2005, and has been on hiatus ever since due to all kinds of complications and schedule problems. But what I do know is that this awesome team has finished issues 9 and 10 over the years, so there is a good almighty chance of them getting back on track and giving us the collection of final issues the way they can actually be published by their publishers.

But as it stands right now, Feral City is the only thing available, a volume that collects the fantastic first 8 issues of humanity's darker side.

But don't let it discourage you from giving this volume a chance as, even in worst case scenario, this would work as a stand alone volume that would leave some questions unanswered but initially would leave a satisfying experience behind. This is mostly due to the content being build from short stories that has an ongoing development on the background.

Detective Richard Fell is transferred to a city of Snowtown, and no good place Snowtown is.

Snowtown is a trashzone full of hopelessness, full of lost chances and opportunities, full of criminal activity, full of human waste, a city that suffers from the lack of everyday facilities. A dark, sad, empty and miserable setting that makes wonders under the hands of Ellis and Templesmith.

Ellis is a master of his craft when comes to dealing with the darker, more twisted and secret, side of humanity, and the words make miracles when combined with the haunting, beautiful art of Templesmith.

Richard Fell is an interesting character. He seems to have a strong sense of justice that makes him a good and intelligent detective who doesn't know how to give up even in a city that everyone else has abandoned and left floating free to destroy itself.

But beneath all that, he seems to be possessed by his abilities, there seems to be demons he is trying to run away from, he is not always shying away from ugly methods, and while the story develops, Fell seems to be swallowed by the city, making him to be something else, or perhaps letting him be what he truly is, which isn't necessarily something good.

Secondary characters are wicked, there is a lot of dark humor within, and it makes it easier while facing pedophiles, robbers, murderers, drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless people, suicide bombers and alike.

Not a cheerful and an easy read, there is so much details within the art to make this a story that requires full attention from the reader. And I like that.

But then again, I am kind of a fan of Ellis and I basically love everything he does, so I might be a tiny bit biased.

The hell am not, look at the awards, that will show you.
